With Ben Stolorow on keys and Fred Randolph on electric bass, we will entertain you with swinging jazz classics and some bossa nova grooves.
With the variety of touch and range of expression that one can hear in Ben Stolorow's music, he displays the wide scope of his influences, from Bach and Bill Evans to Thelonious Monk and McCoy Tyner. One of the most in demand jazz pianists in the area both as a leader and sideman. he has performed at Yoshi’s, The Jazzschool, and the Kuumbwa Jazz Center, at the Healdsburg and SF Jazz Festivals, at Oakland’s Art and Soul Festival, and has also toured and performed throughout Japan.
Fred Randolph's professional career includes three CD releases, orchestral and soundtrack work as well as teaching at UC Berkeley. He holds a Masters degree in Composition from Cal State Hayward. He is currently the leader of The Fred Randolph Quintet (Fred Randolph, basses; Erik Jekabson, trumpet; Sheldon Brown, saxes; Matt Clark, piano; and Greg Wyser-Pratte, drums). He continues to perform as a bassist for many of the Bay Area’s finest including Maria Muldaur, Dan Hicks, Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, Collective West Jazz Orchestra, Sandy Cressman’s Homenagem Brasileira, Bobbe Norris and Larry Dunlap, Kenny Washington, Michael O’Neill, Dmitri Metheny and Calvin Keys.
The Terrace Room is tucked inside The Lake Merritt Hotel, a beautiful 1927 Art Deco gem with lovely views of Lake Merritt. Make a dinner reservation in the main dining room which offers Caesar salad, blackened catfish, burgers, vegetable risotto and more in the main dining room with full bar, and where you will see us on the main stage.
