Keith Saunders is a mainstay pianist on the SF jazz scene reminiscent of Bud Powell. He lived in New York for a couple of decades and worked and/or recorded with Richie Cole, Frank Wess, Ralph Lalama, Joe Lovano, Hank Crawford, and Mickey Roker and many others. Originally from Los Angeles, he studied with Charlie Shoemake and later with Horace Silver and worked extensively in L.A. with Eddie Harris, Roy McCurdy, and Bill Watrous. Bassist Heshima Mark Williams is a San Francisco native and veteran whose playing springs from thirty years’ experience. Heshima studied under the tutelage of the first African-American classical bassist in the Boston Symphony, Dr. Ortiz Walton. He has toured with trombonist Julian Priester; trumpeter Eddie Henderson; saxophonists Pharoah Sanders, Sonny Simmons and Idris Ackamoor (as a member of The Pyramids); vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson; and pianist Jeff Chimenti. He has recorded with Julian Priester, Bobby Hutcherson, jazz blues vocalist Lady Memphis and jump blues vocalist Lavay Smith; The Pyramids; saxophonist Robert Stewart; guitarist Calvin Keyes; and jazz violinist India Cook among others. vibraphonist Yancey Taylor, and harpist Destiny Mohammed from the Bay Area.
